It could be said that any athlete’s journey has ups and downs, success and challenges but very few face as many set backs as this bloke, Jason Grosvenor.
Grosvenor a talented Redlands junior transitioned into senior cricket at Redlands Tigers and started to make inroads climbing the grades before illness stopped him in his tracks.
The seriousness of this illness and setback robbed Grosvenor of many seasons and would have been enough for an average person to walk away from sport.
Grosvenor however, a strong willed character and cricket tragic, elected not to walk away but rather invest in himself by training as a coach and then spent a number of seasons coaching underage teams. During this time Grosvenor attained his Level 2 Cricket Coach accreditation.
Grosvenor was also frequently at senior training assisting where could and many a Saturday he would appear at games to support his Tiger mates both home and away.
The commitment of this bloke, saw him return to cricket whilst still learning how to manage his body, there were many times he looked defeated but he was determined not to be broken.
Jason Grosvenor has since succeeded in climbing to the heights of receiving a First Grade Redlands Tigers baggy green, proving that sometimes the journey is not easy, sometimes you may not see the light at the end of the tunnel, but with hard work, will and mental strength you can over come any hurdle.
Jason Grosvenor, you are all class, thank you for being you and not quitting on yourself, thank you for all the support you have given to others at Tigerland and congratulations on achieving 1000 Second Grades runs!
